Solana is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain designed for mass adoption. Unlike the EVM's global state machine, Solana uses Proof of History (PoH) as a cryptographic clock to order transactions before consensus, allowing parallel transaction execution via the Sealevel runtime.
Programs on Solana are stateless: all user state, balances, and data live inside dedicated accounts passed to the program at runtime.
