CloudWatch collects metrics and logs from AWS services and applications. Metrics are numeric time series such as latency or error count; logs contain event details; alarms evaluate thresholds and can notify or trigger automation.

Useful dashboards track the four golden signals: latency, traffic, errors, and saturation. High-cardinality dimensions should be used carefully because they increase cost and make dashboards harder to interpret.
